EXEED CERTIFIED GRANT SCHEME AVAILABLE IN IRELAND

At BES, our team of SEAI Certified Energy Efficient Design experts are on hand to deliver excellent results via the EXEED Certified Grant Scheme.

SEAI provide support for organisations to invest in their sustainable future. With the aim to reduce energy demands, the scheme uses a systematic approach to decarbonise businesses effectively.

WHAT IS EXEED?

Excellence in Energy Efficient Design (EXEED) is a program which was created to facilitate new investments or upgrades to reduce carbon footprint and overhead operational costs.

The aim of EXEED is to ensure that energy-efficient design management is delivered in a way that optimises energy performance and management at the earliest opportunity.

The EXEED approach looks at where energy is used, what it is used for and why it is used. From there, the EXEED way is to identify and challenge energy usage which can be applied to buildings as a whole and/or manufacturing processes.

EXEED looks at energy demands and takes detailed steps to reduce the need for energy demand before then implementing energy efficient measures through technology which then continues to reduce energy use and improve efficiency with a lower risk of financial issues later down the line.

By taking this approach to projects, the EXEED way tackles energy performance issues as the technique means they have a stronger starting point to begin with.

how DOES THE it WORK?

With the potential to receive up to €3,000,000 per project (grant amount dependent on applications), the scheme is a great opportunity for organisations to move forward on design projects that require larger investments, whilst also considering the investment for the future.

The scheme is aimed at the optimisation of energy performance whilst reducing operational costs and energy emissions.

The scheme is separated into two stages where grant support is awarded in percentage dependent on organisation type.

Stage 1: Pre-Investment

Stage 1 usually takes around 3 weeks from the application approval and is focused on the design phase of the process. Grant support can range from 50-70% and can include:

  • Eligibility Assessment

  • EED Expert Costs

  • A technical feasibility study

  • Benchmarking studies

  • Specialist consultation for challenge and analyse (C&A)

  • Additional concept design

  • Energy modelling

Stage 2: Capital Investment

Stage 2 takes longer and is estimated at 8-10 weeks from the assessment application to the grant offer. Grant support ranges from 30%-50% and assists towards:

  • Equipment costs such as heat pumps, AHU’s etc.

  • Installation costs

  • Investment professional fees for your EED expert and M&V expertise.

who can apply?

The program is open to all large organisations who are planning energy project investments. This includes both new designs and major renovation/energy upgrades.
