FortisBC are offering rebates for both project costs and a gas absorption heat pump to reduce energy use.
As approved consultants with experts on the technology, our team have undergone the process countless times. This experience and insight has extended to our BES team providing presentations on the project scopes and the way the technology works, so you know you’re in great hands.
What is a Gas Absorption Heat Pump?
A gas absorption heat pump is an advanced heating system. Like other heat pumps, it takes air from outside and brings it in. However, this kind of heat pump uses natural gas as it’s energy source and relies on a chemical reaction to move thermal energy.
why should i get one?
The installation of gas absorption heat pump technology has the ability to operate at over 100% efficiency on average.
Due to the way the gas absorption heat pump operates, it requires minimal electricity to run. As the heat is transferred from the environment (outside air), it becomes a renewable source of energy whilst expending less energy to keep it working correctly.
The technology can be applied to space heating, domestic hot water and ventilation systems.
Some properties may have limited electric supply/functionality for future projects or may just be conscious of their electricity usage. In these cases, the gas absorption heat pump is a fantastic alternative to explore whilst considering efficiency goals.
How can I receive funding for a gas absorption heat pump?
Aimed at commercial, multi-unit residential buildings or institutional buildings, FortisBC’s rebate program offers up to 75% of the total project costs to a maximum of $200,000 depending on the project.
Commercial customers may also be eligible to receive 100% in funding for a feasibility study and engineering design up to a value of $20,000.
eligibilitY
If you’re the owner or long-term lease holder for an existing commercial or industrial building, as well as check each of the following criteria, you may be eligible:
Applicants must be a FortisBC natural gas customer under any rate (excluding Rate 1).
The property has outdoor space where the gas absorption heat pump can be installed.
The heat pump must replace an existing gas heating system as the main source of heat.
The application and documents are submitted within 1 year following the purchase date of the products or installation (the first to occur)
how do i apply?
Our team at BES can assist you in the process and learning more about how the rebates can apply to you.
We can carry out a feasibility study for you to determine if the gas absorption heat pump can work for you. This study can be 100% funded by FortisBC as part of the rebate process so there’s no cost to you.
If you’re interested in receiving a rebate or just want to understand if this technology will suit your needs, please contact us.
