At BES, we can assist you in understanding and improving your building's energy efficiency by providing you with a certified BER assessment.
Our team are qualified in carrying out BER assessments in line with SEAI guidelines whilst providing clear, actionable insights that can assist you in reducing costs, emissions and boosting your property value.
WHAT IS A BER CERTIFICATE?
Your Building Energy Rating (BER) is used to display the energy performance of a building. To determine how efficient the property is, a BER uses a scale that ranges from A to G. A-rated premises are the most efficient, whilst G-rated homes are the least efficient on the scale.
We like to think of it as an energy label for your property. The document is composed of factors such as heating, ventilation, lighting and water, which consume energy. As well as providing you with a rating for your consumption, a BER certificate will usually come equipped with recommendations on improving your rating (if appropriate).
why is A BER CERTIFICATE IMPORTANT?
In Ireland, having a BER certificate is a legal requirement for both domestic and non-domestic properties.
If you are buying, selling or renovating a property where building is required, you will require a BER certificate.
Some owners may be unaware that if making renovations to their property, this can alter the original BER and so it can be important to find out what your new rating is for your own peace of mind and future owners.
As well as meeting legal requirements, a good BER rating can:
Lower energy bills
Reduce carbon emissions
Increase property value
Be a factor in attracting potential buyers or tenants.
HOW IS A BER CALCULATED?
Our team will be able to calculate your BER by carrying out an on-site assessment using the ‘Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure’ (DEAP). Using DEAP means that our experts will need to adhere to a particular criteria to ensure your BER is carried out correctly.
We’ll examine each part of your home and consider the layout and shape to build an accurate energy profile.
A BER is usually composed of the typical usage of a property rather than considering the actual energy use, as this can vary depending on individual use, regardless of property factors.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST FOR A BER?
The cost of your assessment and certificate will vary depending on the property and if it is a domestic or non-domestic BER. Our costs start from €150.00.
HOW DO I GET A BER CERTIFICATE?
