Mechanical Designer
About
Ali holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and a master's and bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Shahrekord University. He brings more than six years of mechanical design experience across residential buildings, commercial greenhouses, HVAC equipment manufacturing and the oil industry, with work spanning design offices, manufacturing shops and construction sites. Before joining BES he designed HVAC and plumbing systems for a 38-suite residential building in Prince Rupert, a seniors lodge with a commercial kitchen and the renovation of a health clinic, and designed explosion venting for dust collection systems in mining and sawmill facilities. Earlier he engineered hydronic grow, pipe rail and top heating systems for commercial greenhouses in Abbotsford, carrying out heat load calculations, equipment selection and site inspection.
Ali is a mechanical designer on the BES design team, preparing HVAC, hydronic and plumbing designs for retrofit and new-build projects. He works in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Carrier HAP, and applies computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysis where a system needs to be proven before it is built. His grounding in ASHRAE, BCBC and NFPA codes and in manufacturing means designs are checked against how equipment is actually made and installed.
